SERENA WILLIAMS PULLS OUT OF FRENCH OPEN CITING ACHILLES INJURY

 



Paris: Serena Williams has pulled out of the ongoing French Open tournament with an Achilles injury. The American tennis superstar defeated Kristie Ahn in straight sets the first round of French Open. Serena Williams was scheduled to play Tsvetana Pironkova. Due to Serena Williams’s withdrawals from the tournament, Pironkova will automatically proceed to the third round. Serena Williams has said that she sustained the injury originally in the United States and she hasn’t recovered adequately to play fully focused in Paris.

She further told the press that she always aims to give more than 100% on court and she doesn’t regret leaving the tournament because Achilles injuries can be dangerous and one of the worst injuries. The 39 year old American player has had a magnificent career spanning three decades and was set to equal the record of Margaret Court’s 24 majors before she pulled out of the French tournament.
