passed two significant Farm Bills - Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce Bill,
2020, Farmers Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020.
Congress Party and its NDA Partners vocally opposed the bill saying that it
will crush the agriculture and markets of India. One of the main concerns from
the opposition is that the bill was passed without consulting relevant farming
committees.
On Twitter,
Narendra Modi hailed the bills as transformative and insisted that the bills
will empower the Indian farmers. The bills are set to become the law once
approved by the President.
