Sharjah: The Indian Premier
League in 2020 continues in the middle-east as Royal Challengers Bangalore
would take on Kings XI Punjab this evening at Sharjah Stadium. Today’s match
marks the 31st match played this season and both teams would be
looking to secure a comfortable win. Royal Challengers have started their
campaign in their usual fashion losing to teams despite boasting world-class
talent in their ranks but has since found their footing in the league after
star players Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers ramped up their batting in the
recent matches. Having the reliable Yuzvendra Chahal only helped the Bangalore
team. The Bangalore team are favourites to win today’s match against Kings XI Punjab.
In the reverse fixture, Kings XI Punjab won against Royal Challengers by a
humongous 97 runs.
Since then, the fates of these
teams have changed substantially. The win against Royal Challengers Bangalore
is the only win Punjab managed to score this season. They sit at the bottom of
the points table with only two points to their name. Skipper KL Rahul and
Mayank Agarwal continue to shine but a poor bowling attack has been rendering
them ineffective against opposition teams. The top order has been dutifully
serving the team, but the team has to reflect and reframe their minds to avoid
any further embarrassment on the grandest T20 stage in the world.
