Lisbon: The prolific forward who
plays for the Italian side Juventus in Serie A and Portugal has tested positive
for the coronavirus. According to the Portugal Football Federation, the player
is currently showing no symptoms and doing well. Ronaldo is currently in
isolation. Club football is on break as UEFA Nations League, International
Friendlies and Euro Qualifying are currently underway across the world without
any fans in attendance. Ronaldo has last played for Portugal against France on
Sunday which ended in 0-0 draw in Paris.
The rest of the Portugal team have been tested negative and would be available to play Sweden tonight. The Portugal Team is headed by coach Fernando Santos who notably led the Portuguese team to winning Euro title in 2016. Ronaldo was forced to retire from the match after sustaining an injury midway through the match. Ronaldo continued to play for Portugal and was featured in Portugal team during FIFA World Cup Tournament in 2018. Portugal crashed out of the tournament after being eliminated by the South American nation Uruguay.
