Dubai: Sunrisers Hyderabad would
take on the Chennai Super Kings in the 29th match of this year’s
Indian Premier League edition. IPL 2020 has been taking place in United Arab
Emirates this year due to the current pandemic in India. The outbreak IN UAE is
not as severe as in India and UAE has a record of holding international matches
for decades. On Tuesday, the Dhoni-led unit would lock horns with the
Hyderabadi team who were also having troubles in this year’s campaign but not
as bad as the Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni’s team have lost four out of their
five last games and is now in the seventh position in points table, just one
place above Kings XI Punjab who currently occupies the last position.
Chennai Super Kings has struggled
to extract match-winning performances from its players even though the squad is
full of experienced and expensive players. Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, MS
Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo are some of the most talented and established
international players in the ranks of Chennai Super Kings. The stalwart of the Indian
team and Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni who is usually dependent and reliable in
the 11th hour has struggled to dish out winning runs this year.
It is no rosy for the Sunrisers
Hyderabad either. The Hyderabadi team has been vastly inconsistent with only Rashid
Khan performing on his usual plateau. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow showed
signs of their massive hard-hitting talent but unable to repeat the success
across all matches. The Hyderabadi team is badly missing their most experienced
and reliable bowler in Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kane Williamson has to kick it up a
notch this year along with Warner and Bairstow. A win over Chennai would
improve the confidence for the team and could be pivotal in the race to the
play-offs.
Chennai, for the time-being seems
to have been psychologically defeated, and the chances of grabbing a place in play-offs
was evaporated in the loss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore right in the
front of their own eyes.
