Manchester
City will be facing the reliable Leicester City on Sunday night. Brendan
Rodgers led Leicester City to a top-five finish last season finishing above
Arsenal and Tottenham. On the other hand, Manchester City finished the season
as runners-up with the unbeatable Liverpool taking the premier league title. This
Sunday, Leicester will be without Wilfred Ndidi who is schedule to undergo a
surgery. With the high-level fixture looming in, Manchester City had a drastic
week with key players out due to injury.
The
essential cog in Manchester City’s machine, supremely talented David Silva left
the club for Spanish club Real Sociedad. He will be sorely missed in Manchester
City’s field. Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Joao
Cancelo will be missing Sunday’s game due to injuries. IIkay Gundogan will also
be not playing on Sunday after he said that he is currently in self-isolation
after contacting coronavirus. Manchester City’s academy players are expected to
be included in the squad with Pep Guardiola hoping that the lack of important
players will be countered with their trademark attacking style of play which
could wobble Leicester City.
Brendan
Rodgers has been pushing Leicester to its limits and having extremely talented
local and global talents helped him tremendously. Leicester’s fortunes have had
varied for the past few years after they won the Premier League title which
remains shocking to this day for many fans. Along with Wolverhampton Wanderers,
Leicester show that clubs with moderate wealth can pick a decent fight with the
massively wealthy clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea.
