India continues
to register fresh coronavirus cases daily at a very high rate. Presently, India
ranks number two in the countries with number of infections due to coronavirus.
In the early stages of the pandemic, India looked to have been spared mass deaths
but since the lockdown had been lifted by the Indian government, cases
continued to spike and an alarming number of deaths occurred since. There is no
news of an effective vaccine for covid-19 yet despite numerous vaccines being
developed across the world.
Maharashtra
holds the unfortunate first position in number of infections and deaths followed
by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu registered more deaths than Andhra
Pradesh.
