It is the
stuff of legends. Rajasthan Royals created history on Sunday night after they
chased 223 runs after Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul displayed a performance for
books setting a mountain of runs for Rajasthan to chase in the second innings.
The cricketing fans were left in ecstasy after the match wrapped up. They have
done it. Rajasthan Royals chased down 223 runs to the disbelief of every fan in
the world.
Rahul
Tewatia has been in IPL since 2014 but not a lot of IPL fans know him. He was
acquired by Rajasthan from Delhi Capitals in pre-season before December
Auction. None at the Rajasthan Royals team would have thought that he ends up
becoming their saviour on Sunday. It goes to show that how unpredictable IPL
can be shocking fans year after year. Tewatia scored five six in an over bowled
by an established international bowler, Cottrell. The joy is akin to when an
underdog comes out from the bleachers and prove everybody both on their team
and the opposition how wrong they were.
The first
innings wrapped up with a bang with Mayank Agarwal scored an outstanding
century and KL Rahul scored 69 runs off 54 balls. The scored a total of 223
runs which required nerves of steel and hands made of admantium. Well,
Rajasthan Royals had both.
Sanju Samson
and Steve Smith provided a platform for which the middle order batsmen should take
advantage of. Then comes, Tewatia. And the rest is history.
Moment of
the match- It is hard to pick a single moment in a match with full of iconic
moments but Nicholas Pooran gave us a moment that is worthy to be remembered
for years to come. Legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Jonty Rhodes were praising
the young cricketer for making an outstanding save that required him to catch a
ball that was surely going to be a six. Pooran had other ideas. He jumped into
the car crossing the boundary line and threw the ball back into the field
before hitting the ground. Surely, this is one of the best if not the best piece
of fielding we have ever seen.
