The Chief
Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, K. Chandrsekhar Rao and Jagan Mohan
Reddy will meet to discuss water disputes over Godavari and Krishna waters. The
two chief ministers will meet in presence of Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the Union
Cabinet Minister of Jal Shakti. Both states have raised disputes over the usage
of two important rivers Krishna and Godavari. Telangana government have
complained to Krishna Board that Andhra Pradesh government had increased the
capacity for Rayalseema Irrigation Project.
Telangana
primary concerns are that Andhra government is using more than allocated water
for its irrigation projects across the state. The meeting will not certainly
guarantee favourable outcomes for both states and can end in a stalemate. On
the other hand, the presence of union cabinet minister can prove to be a key
factor for the states to put the dispute to rest.
