A three-floor
building located in Patel Compound in the city of Bhiwandi, Thane has collapsed
in the early hours of the morning. According to the initial reports, the
building collapsed at 03:40 am when its residents were asleep. Since the
unfortunate collapse, Thane Municipal Corporation has said that 8 people were
killed so far and 20-25 people are feared to be still trapped under the debris.
The locals
rescued 20 people from the collapsed structure and National Disaster Response
Force (NDRF) are in the process of rescuing the trapped people. It was reported
that a child was rescued from the debris by the rescue team and was immediately
transported to a nearby hospital. The fire brigade and several police teams are
also at the spot.
