New Delhi: In the past 24 hours, India has registered 67,757
new coronavirus cases and 813 people have passed away due to the virus. The new
figures bring the total number of infections in India to a total of 7,119,300.
109,184 Indians have been died due to the pandemic in the country. The recovery
rate climbed to 86.17% The new figures are promising to an extent with total
number of daily cases dipping in October. September has been the worst month
for India which at one time recorded more than 90,000 cases in one day. The
government officials are stating that the first pandemic wave in India may come
to end soon but the health experts and officials are much more cautious in
their approach to the virus saying that none of the world countries have a
strong grip on the virus behaviour and caution and precautionary measures
should be at the top of every government’s agenda. The health care system in
India had been weak as it was before the pandemic broke out in the month of
March. Now, eight months into the pandemic, the country is still reeling from
the effects of the pandemic in terms of both deaths and economy. India along
with several developing and developed countries are fearing that it may take
years or even decades for the global economy to return to normalcy.
In the meantime, treatment to the individuals who are
infected with the virus and a manufacture of an effective virus should be the
utmost priority. The experts repeatedly insist that the vaccine is the only
viable option for the world to eliminate the coronavirus. There are two other
options for the world to see the back of the virus. Herd immunity can also
eliminate the virus but at a severe cost. To develop herd immunity, a very
significant number of people in the world would have to be infected and the
outcome ends up fatal in many cases. The second option is that the natural
disappearance of the virus. The health experts and researchers could not
provide a timeline as to when the world could see the end of the virus.
