INDIA RECORDS 67,988 NEW CASES & 694 DEATHS

New Delhi: India has registered 67,988 new coronavirus infections in the country on Wednesday. Nearly 700 people have died due to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours. The death toll on Wednesday is the lowest in the recent times which amounted to more than 1,000 deaths per day during September. The total number of infections accumulating in the country is falling in October as opposed to several European countries which are seeing an alarming spike in the new cases. Coronavirus in India during September marked the worst statistics to date registering more than 90,000 cases and more than 1,000 people dying daily. The health officials continue to insist that the lower number of new infections is not a sign of the pandemic losing its grip, but more caution should be exercised until the pandemic is really over.

A significant number of Indian citizens have been flouting the guidelines put in place by WHO and Indian government such as wearing face masks when outside. Face masks are the forefront weapon in defeating the virus, according to the experts. And it should not be taken lightly even though statistics show a slight dip in new infections and deaths. And there is another scenario that needs to be taken into consideration by the Indian citizens. There have been reports of underreporting of the coronavirus cases in the country and the real numbers could be daunting. For the time being, the citizens in India should continue to follow the coronavirus guidelines and prevention rules which will substantially increase the chances of the virus slowing down in the country. Coronavirus testing has been amped up the central government in recent weeks with testing more than a million samples per day. The testing needs to be continued or even increased in the coming days which would assist to determine the severity of the coronavirus on India at any given time.
