The news of SP Balasubrahmanyam stuck the world like a punch in the gut. Fans everywhere are in shock on hearing the news that one of the most iconic singers of all time if not the most, passed away at the age of 74 at MGM Hospitals in Chennai. The singer admitted himself into the hospital after testing positive of covid-19. SP Charan, his son continued to update on social media about the state of SP. Fans breathed a little easy when Mr. Charan announced that SP is in a stable state.

Tragedy struck. MGM Hospitals released a statement that the singer was in critical condition and was on ventilator. Ever since, SP Balasubrahmanyam admitted himself into hospital, fans across India and world had been praying for his recovery. But, SP’s death proves once again how fragile human life is.

SP Balasubrahmanyam sang for five and a half decades. In five and a half decades, the cinema industry in India has changed. Iconic actors and actresses have had retired. Countless films were released and new talents emerged and the old grand talents have quietly sunk into the shadows. SP Balasubrahmanyam remained as a constant beacon of hope and talent all these years. It will be extremely hard for the fans to swallow the grief yet the life of SP will not be forgotten as long as human life exist on earth. SP Balasubrahmanyam had become an immortal decades before his passing. The voice that moved millions will be forever etched into history and it will be alive and bright when millions continue to hear in the future. Tributes and remembrances poured in from fellow colleagues in cinema industries across India and fans around the world. My deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of SP in these trying times. Rest in Peace.
