In the last
24 hours, India has reported 80,500 new coronavirus cases and 1,178 people have
fallen for the virus. The latest figures total the tally of total infections in
the country at 6,225,763 and the death toll stands at 97,529. More than 5
million people have recovered so far from the virus in the country.
Several vaccine
candidates are currently underway across the world. The Serum Institute of
India (SII) have teamed up with Oxford Institute to manufacture a vaccine that
can be used to treat covid-19. Last week, clinical human trials for Oxford
vaccine had began. The effectiveness of these vaccines that are currently
under-development is not guaranteed according to health experts, and it could
take a significant amount of time before the world could develop an effective
vaccine.
The experts
and doctors continue to stress on the importance of wearing a mask when going
outside and to wash hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based sanitizer. Since
the pandemic began, countries around the globe had imposed lockdown. Beginning
in June, several countries had slowly lowered the restriction levels. United
States of America, India and Brazil are among the worst affected nations in the
world taking the top three places respectively. According to experts, the
prediction as to how and when the pandemic will end cannot be predicted.
Meanwhile, people are urged to follow the guidelines issued by health experts
and local government bodies.
